The October-November 2004, Emergicare Medical Training Basic (16 hours) Wilderness First Aid course is now registering. The class will be held at a location REI Co-Op in Roseville, MN, and will run on Friday evening, October 29, all day on Saturday, October 30, and Sunday, October 31, 2004. (We promise to bandage somebody up as "The Mummy!") Please e-mail "Emergicare at trailpatrol.org" for more information, or register using the form at www.trailpatrol.org/medical.htm . Cutoff date for registration is Friday, October 15th, 2004. Registrations may be accepted after that date, but will be for the full amount (no discounts) and the registrant will have to provide their own copy of the textbook. The maximum number of students will be 20.

October 31, Noon-5:00PM
Advanced Class Dates and Location to be determined at the Saturday class, but will probably be held at Lake Maria State Park in November. These are not separate courses. The Basic course is a prerequisite for the Advanced course, unless you provide a copy of a valid WFA card from Emergicare, WMA, WMI/NOLS. Sirrus or SOLO. Advanced Wilderness First Aid in 16 additional hours, and includes single-rescuer CPR training.
REI Members and Backcountry Trail Patrol, MORC and Barmy Dogs MTB Patrol members and candidates receive $10.00 off registration for the Basic WFA course. This training meets the first aid requirements set by the National Mountain Bike Patrol.
This class is sponsored and hosted by the Backcountry Trail Patrol Association, a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting trail users and natural resources through service and backcountry safety education. The Backcountry Trail Patrol provides volunteer mountain bike patrol in the Chippewa National Forest and cross-country ski patrol at Sand Dunes State Forest, Zimmerman, MN, Lake Maria State Park, Monticello, MN, and the City of Lakes Loppet in Minneapolis. Basic and Advanced WFA Certification is required for membership in the Backcountry Trail Patrol.
